who knew

Just a little blast from the past, yielding LOTS of fashionable merit. Girl with Native American head dress thing and gun holster (das wassup) = YOURS TRULY.

Boy in yellow shirt = my broski, Toby. I guess theater runs in the blood. Also creds to Rod, Anne and William for completing the family!

That's all folks.

Blue

Happy Yom Kippur, my fellow Jews! It's always fun to spend a day not eating, sitting in temple, listening to words you don't understand, isn't it? Especially because just as you are settling into that mid-morning day-dream/snooze, you have to STAND UP, SIT DOWN, AGAIN, AGAIN, AGAIN.

Anyway, I actually do like Yom Kippur.

Without further hesitation, heeeeeeere is an outfit I wore last weekend.

The shirt was my dad's back in the day, and my mom was cleaning out her closet, and just couldn't throw it away. So I took it. BAM.

Here you have a better view of the little Ugly Doll thing. My friend gave it to me a year or so ago, and I don't really know what it's supposed to be used for -- probably not being mercilessly hair-banded onto some tights, but alas, when inspiration calls, whatchu gonna do?!?

And finally, the Birkenstocks. How I love them. The ones that traveled with me to Senegal, resulting in a permanent sandal tan. Yes.

Farewell, international team of followers.

SHE'S BAAAACK

Yes, indeed, my faithful fearless followers, I have returned. I realize this past few months may have been difficult for you, what with my absence and all, but hopefully this post will mend any hurt feelings like one of those Spiderman bandaids we all used to love as younguns. Anywhoz, this year is about to be as busy as this summer, because I have to... get... into... college... So, the blogging will be sparse. Hang in there my friends, we shall overcome.

Speaking of summer, I shall now do a lil' recap.

First, I went to Senegal.

Me and Kine Faaaaaam

Mbour [ironic, going to the tourist capital, right after spending 10 days in a remote village, each of us staying with a family? oh well]

22 days later, I went to New York, and then England.

There's me in the middle, with the long pants that look like a skirt!

And finally, I came home, and Sofi took artsy pictures.

Luh you, my dear mini-me!

Kelly Lee, come back from Wesleyan, PLEEEEEASE!

So, now you know my life. You may not have any idea what I did in these various locations, but you've seen the clothing, so hopefully that suffices? If you want to know more, call me beep me if ya wanna reach me (Copyright Kim Possible).

Farewell, hasta la vista, good bye.

modern famblam

Soooo I've been severely lacking on updating this thing. Sorry, [nonexistent] intensely loyal cult of followers. I will reform. But probably not anytime soon, as I leave for Senegal (!!) in 8 days. Anywho, here are some things I like. I own approximately two accessories, so I decided to find some I want and will most likely never own:

Who wouldn't want this? Works for all genders, all ages, all everything, ALL.

Also from Pixie Market

I die.
From Modcloth

I've been hoping these will go on sale for plus/minus a year now, but all to no avail. ALAS.

Anyway, that post was slightly miserable but I was starting to feel guilty about ditching the satsumas and letting them rot and such (extending the metaphor too far? maybe?). In other news, I love Modern Family and making crossword puzzles (just when you thought I couldn't get any dorkier, I pull THAT outta my figurative sleeve...).

Farewell!

Isn't this just lovely?

Yes, yes, it is.

look for a street that starts with g

Wore this a couple days ago...
Toby wanted me to do a "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" (or however that goes) thing, but it kind of failed, but here are some of the wonderfully entertaining (maybe?) results.
The expression... That's what you look like when you're really trying hard to KEEP THE EVIL OUT OF YOUR EARS.
This is supposed to be witty because it's playing off of the fact that I'm almost legally blind*. See I'm holding my glasses off, to "see no evil"? Ha ha ha.

Anyway, I'm in a bitter mood, but alas, such is life. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, I got the Rodarte for Target dress! YAAA! It's so frekking nice. Will be up here soon, I swurr.

* = just kidding, my mom is the almost-legally-blind, not-at-all-legally-blond, one.

Okay, the end.

for you, droob

Well goodness this has been a dry spell! I suppose I just got too busy what with the play and school and remembering to eat/breathe too... Still no outfit posts yet, but some inspiration type stuff? I'm getting into this whole Spring mood, but it's weird because it's also raining a lot... So I've been trying to devise an outfit that captures that, and have pretty much failed, so have decided to just post pictures of people who I think actually succeed at that.
First of all, the girl from the Uniform Project. I don't know if that is a skirt or a shirt or what, but whatever it is, it looks fantastic. The black dress gives the outfit a sort of edgy dark feeling, which I just love...

Other adorable cold-but-still-spring things to love:
(The four above images are from the Aperture Foundation.)

Hopefully an outfit post is coming soon. That's all for now!

bird, the bird, bird is the word

HAPPY EASTAH! I plan on wearing all pastels today in celebration.*

Last night was opening night, so I figured I needed an appropriately gaudy/bright outfit. I wanted to wear these lovely shoes a family friend gave me a while ago, so I pretty much based the outfit around them. I like to think that from bottom to top, this outfit was a mix of tacky-Texas-soccer-mom and artsy-fartsy-Parisian-student.

The boots are horrifically treacherous to walk in (I need a person as a crutch at all times). Thus the sitting.

Don't be fooled by the fact that I'm smiling. My feet are crying.

Luckily, my love for these high-waisted jeans made up for the suffering and pain my feet were going through.

* = why ARE pastels associated with Easter?!

To all the Easter celebrators, have a wonderful
day eating/finding/painting eggs today!

P.S. Thanks to the glorious Chansooooooo for taking the pictures! I am moving up in the world; for the first time, a real live person took my pictures, instead of the ole self-timer! It was a lot more terrifying than I would have expected, but you know, baby steps, baby steps.

the game

To all the Jews out there, happy passover. I now get to eat cardboard whoops I mean matzah instead of bread for a week -- SCORE! I went up to Grandam's today for the seder and we got into one of those heated political discussions like we always do. This time it was about those stankin' Tea-partiers... Ehhhmmm...

Speaking of which*, here is what I wore today.

I've had this prairie dress thing for a while, and never really wear it... I was getting a little sick of all my clothes so it seemed like a good time to pull out some oldies...

Perhaps you can see in this photo that I am smiling. Maybe I'm smiling about the fact that you all are thinking the title of this post -- "the game" -- has to do with that game people are always playing, where they say "you just lost the game!" What you don't know is that I think that game is exponentially lame, and I have never understood the appeal, at all. Sorry if anyone reading this likes that game, sorry. You just lost it anyway.

I enjoy this picture because I so obviously thought I needed to be lower for the shot/am falling over. Or maybe I was trying to look preggers? Who knows. Sometimes modeling inspiration just hits me and I can't help it? It's not easy being the next Tyra, JEEZ.**

Also, someone mentioned monochromatic outfits the other day and it got me thinking... I am really tempted to pull together all my white clothing... WE SHALL SEE!

* = attempt to figure out the connection between the Tea-partiers and my outfit...
** = those were jokes. I have zero modeling skillz, in case that isn't already painfully clear (which it is...)

the truth is you're not a schizo; we just put a chip behind your ear

So first of all, I've decided to give my posts seemingly cryptic titles. To spice things up a bit. (I've also decided that it's still important to adhere to rules of grammar, even though this is on ze internet -- thus that whole old-fashioned thing of actually starting sentences with capital letters... I realize it's probably somewhat laughable that I'm giving this shpiel about proper grammar in a sentence that definitely isn't grammatically correct. Alas.)

ANYWAY, here's what I wore a couple of days ago.

I'm wearing almost all the American Apparel I own in this outfit (including one of those wonderfully comfortable leotards! YUS!)

Boo that the flash is so obvious... Well anywho I enjoyed this outfit because I got to wear the shoes from my English counterpart, Rosa! Wooooo. Also because my mom is really very sweet. She saw that I was stressed about school and such and bought me some new tights. What a dear.

Finally, I currently have 7 followers! WHADDUP. That is all. Some people have actually told me they like this ole blog of mine, which is really really quite cool. Only one step between seven followers and world wide fame isn't that what they say? Well no. Okay goodnight.

the search continues

I've been searching for the perfect wedge for a while now. And a few days ago, when my friend showed up with some Jeffrey Campbell boots, I decided to see how he was with wedges. And holy mother, THAT was a good choice. Or bad, actually, because now I have discovered the exact shoe I want, and know I can't get because I am young and therefore always broke. GAH!

Anywho, the first one...

Kind of like the coolest gladiator sandals ever created? In wedge form? The thickness of the straps is actually perfect, and all the buckles just enhance the whole quasi-industrial-but-hellza-chic look. Finally, the futuristic black outstep thing MAKES THE SHOE.

But that is only the beginning...

I suppose this one is fairly similar, but has an entirely different feel to it. The best thing about this shoe, I think, is the part just below the heel. See how the back of the wedge doesn't quite match up with it? Diviiiiiine.

Two last goodies to ponder...

Oh Jeffrey Campbell. Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey.

gorblimey

This weekend was stuffed to the brim with work work work so I didn't have time to take pictures of any outfits. Alas! I do have some pictures saved up from a while ago, although this supply is very rapidly fizzling out... Anywho, here is one of my fave outfits, but a slightly horrendous photo!

Don't mind the fact that the expression on my face is more than a little bit disgusting. That lacy dress is one of my best acquisitions, because I can wear it with so much stuff. I liked tucking it under the skirt with this outfit, so that I didn't look like a complete Puritan.

I used this little ribbon thing I got as a present in 8th grade to make a necklace, because I thought the outfit needed some more pink, to complement the shooz... which are shown below...

Property of the glorious Sofi Chavez! Thank you thank you thank you!

Finally, you may (but most likely not) be wondering about the title of this post. Well, it turns out "gorblimey" is an "expression of indignation or surprise." I just thought it was too good to pass up. You know, just your average Irish-angry-old-man-sounding word.

Aaaaand with that I end my post!

P.S. Katie or Drue, if either of you are reading this, here is a little shout-out! I want to thank my very very small band of followers RIGHT NOW! xxx

TOO MUCH HOMEWORK

I only have time for a very very short post... First of all, Susie Bubble is so adorable and frekking cool. How does she have such an enormous quantity of ridiculously unique, and hullza pretty clothing? No one knows.

Property of Susie Bubble

And a little update as to what I wore recently... These are from Monday!

You can't really see the fabric up close here, but it really reminds me of some couch in the Little Old Lady from Pasadena's living room...

And that is all folks!

back to preschool

A couple of days ago I dug through our drawer of old clothing and stumbled on some fantastic stuff, most of which was hopelessly small. HOWEVER, I did manage to find a lovely sweater that was my brother's when he was three! I went through quite an ordeal to put it on (approx. ten minute process, my armpits were crying in pain instantaneously), so I thought I simply had to take some pictures, to make it all worth while. So here we are:

 A little excited?

The pretentious looking-off-to-the-side picture... I'm sorry! Only posted this one because it gives a full view of the sweater.

Something that a frugal/cheap person like me thinks is cool is that I didn't buy anything in this outfit. Every piece is either a gift, another family member's, or borrowed. Thank you to Sofi for letting me borrow your skirt for so long!

chariots of fiyah!

The 1920's must have been a good time. You could run flailing your arms all around and win an Olympic gold medal, be named "Harold Abrahams" and wear hats with black polka-dotted veils. All of this is according to the wondrous Chariots of Fire, which I saw a couple nights ago. Now it may seem like your average quadruple-Academy-Award-winning-plus-legendary-theme-song movie, but I would say it is a bit more. LOOK AT WHAT EVERYONE IS WEARING.

I couldn't find any really good pictures online, so I had to just pause a youtube video and get these... But hopefully you get the idea. They all have these lovely trench coats with pronounced collars and big buttons. I hope someday I can do some outfit inspired by these, but currently my wardrobe is slightly lacking in anything neutral/not obnoxiously bright and garish. Oh well, hope springs eternal. Some day.

Is that not the best jacket you've ever seen? Why don't guys wear periwinkle, potentially velvet blazers today? ANSWER ME THAT. Furthermore, the hat. The hat. The Hat. So good. I love how the brim flattens in the front, in a kind of feminine way? Coupled with the black ribbon, which so smoothly contrasts the rest of his pale, pastel-ly outfit? Diyaamn.

That is all for now. I'll hopefully upload some outfit pictures soon, but as of right now the cord connecting the computer to the camera is MIA... so...

Hello world!

After many days of prowling and stalking through countless other fashion blogs (Tavi and Susie Bubble being the faves), I've decided to try my hand at making my own. I know absolutely nothing about the fine art of blogging, and even less about the fine art of fashion. All I know is I like to wear odd clothes and get disproportionally excited about finding a cheap pair of shoes. And I figure, for now, that is qualification enough. So, here we go! POST #1!

The Edwardian Ball - January 24, 2010.
What a wonderful evening! Kayla and I found out about it last year at our high school winter formal. We stumbled into the wrong room and faced skeletons of cats, steam machines, and absurdly tall and lean men. Much cooler than a high school dance? I THINK SO! So we logged the event in our minds, and patiently waited for a year to pass. AND THEN IT WAS TIME.

Feibi was super proud of her Asian parasol.

Farewell for now!
